CAUSTICUM.

This remedy is derived from a mixture of Caustic lime and bisulfate of potash.

It is a useful remedy in chronic rheumatic arthritis and in paralytic affections.

This remedy is useful when there are drawing pains in the muscular and fibrous tissues with deformities about the joints.

It is useful when there is a progressive loss of power.

It is also useful in Tendonitis and in contractures. It is useful in Torticolis (wry neck).

It is useful when there is local paralysis in the vocal cords, muscles of deglutition, tongue, eyelids, face, bladder and extremities.

The mental state of such patients is usually sad and hopeless; they are intensely sympathetic in nature. The ailments come on from long lasting grief or sudden negative emotions.

It is useful in cataracts, inflammation of the eyelids, ulceration of the cornea with visual impairment, as if a film were before the eyes. This remedy is useful in Ptosis (drooping) of the eyelids.

It is a very useful remedy in chronic middle ear catarrh.

The remedy is also useful when the patient has a greasy taste in the stomach with aversion to sweets and is worse after eating fresh meat.

This remedy is also useful when there is involuntary urination while coughing or sneezing. The involuntary urination is often during the first sleep. This remedy is also useful in retention of urine after surgery.

This remedy is useful for hoarseness of voice with pain in the chest. There may be aphonia, a sore streak down the trachea. This remedy also helps singers and public speakers, who have difficulty in using their voice.

It is also useful in left-sided sciatica with unsteadiness of muscles of the forearm and arm where the tendons may be contracted.
It is useful when there is rheumatism with tearing pains in the limbs and the patient is slow to learn to walk.

It is useful remedy for warts, which are large jagged and bleed easily.

This remedy is useful when the patient is worse in dry cold winds, cold air, movement or motion of the carriage.

The patient is better in damp weather and warmth of the bed.
